Samui sits on the water, so fish and seafood are among the sections we care most about.

All six fish plates, in detail

Pan-seared red snapper fillet 420 — a wild-caught fillet seared to a crisp golden skin, no bones to work around. The right pick if you would rather not tackle a whole fish.

Barramundi fillet 420 — gently seared and finished with olive oil, paprika and garlic powder.

Tuna lemon garlic 420 — seared hard enough to colour the outside while the centre stays buttery. If you would rather it were cooked through, say so when ordering.

Pan-seared scallops 390 — diver-caught, seared to a caramelised crust with the centre still translucent. The cheapest plate in the section and the smallest; it works better as an opener than a main.

Salmon steak & orange 460 — Josper-grilled to seal in the richness, served with an orange sauce.

Whole grilled red snapper 490 — the largest plate here, grilled whole, which keeps the natural sweetness of the flesh. Easily shared between two.

Six more fish dishes on the Thai side

The Thai section carries its own fish list, all at 490.

  • Pla thod kratiem — whole sea bass or snapper deep-fried crisp, topped with fried garlic
  • Sweet and sour red snapper — flash-fried, then dressed in a citrus-balanced sauce
  • Pla thod yam mamuang — fried crisp under a sharp green mango salad
  • Pla nueng manao — steamed whole in lime, chilli and garlic; no oil at all
  • Pla neung see ew — steamed with soy, garlic, chilli and fresh herbs
  • Goong tod sauce makham — battered king prawns in tamarind sauce

Fried or steamed? Fried gives crunch and a bigger flavour, and eats well with rice. Steamed is lighter, tastes more of the fish itself, and carries no oil. Ordering several? Take one of each.

Cacciucco at 360 is the traditional Italian seafood stew — prawns, mussels and clams simmered together. It is a completely different proposition to tom yum despite both being seafood soups.

What to drink with it

House white at 230 a glass or 490 the carafe · a spritz at 280 · cold beer 80–140. With pla nueng manao, already sharp and hot, beer works better than wine.
